What means of transportation are available in Turin?

Turin has a versatile local transport network operated by GTT (Gruppo Torinese Trasporti). This allows you to get to the most important sights quickly and easily, as well as to districts away from the city center.

  • MetroTurin has a modern metro line that runs fully automatically. It connects important hubs such as Porta Nuova, Porta Susa and the "Lingotto" exhibition center. It is the best choice for quick trips across the city.
  • StreetcarsThe historic streetcar lines still characterize the cityscape today. Many routes run directly through the city center and are perfect for getting an impression of the city during the journey.
  • BusesThe dense bus network covers almost all parts of the city. You can use them to reach sights that are a little further out, such as the Automobile Museum or the Juventus Stadium.
  • Regional trainsFrom the Porta Nuova and Porta Susa stations, trains regularly depart for the surrounding area, for example to the Reggia di Venaria or the Piedmont Alps.
  • Night busesSpecial lines run after midnight at weekends, so you can get back to your hotel late without any problems.
  • Airport shuttleThe SADEM bus is the fastest connection between Turin Airport and the city center, alternatively there is also a regional train.

Tickets & Passes

If you are traveling by bus, streetcar or metro, you have a choice of different ticket types. In addition to single trips, there are day tickets or multi-day tickets that allow you to travel unlimited. This is particularly practical if you are staying in Turin for several days and want to see a lot.

You can easily get tickets from vending machines in metro stations, in many Tabacchi stores (recognizable by the large "T") or directly via the transport company's official apps.

Important: All tickets must be validated before starting your journey or when boarding the bus or streetcar. Make sure you stamp your ticket correctly, otherwise you may be penalized at ticket inspections.

The prices are moderate and vary depending on the type of ticket. With the Torino Card or the Royal Pass you benefit from discounts on the fare and additional advantages.

Torino Card & Royal Pass: save on local transport

With the Torino Card and the Royal Pass, you cannot use public transport for free, but you can get the "Special Tour Ticket" at a reduced price. This ticket is suitable for tourists and visitors.

The Special Tour Ticket is valid for the following means of transport within the city and in the surrounding area of Turin:

  • Metro
  • Buses
  • Streetcars

You can buy a ticket valid for 48 hours for 7,00 EUR instead of 9,50 EUR or a ticket valid for 72 hours for 9,00 EUR instead of 12,50 EUR.
