Discover Turin with a guide

Turin's centre is compact and easy to explore on foot. A guide tells you what lies behind the façades: why the House of Savoy shaped the city so strongly, what the story is behind the Mole Antonelliana and which legends surround particular squares.

The selection on this page ranges from a classic highlights walking tour and themed tours to tours by bike, e-bike or electric bus. Duration and languages offered are shown for each tour – they come straight from the provider.

Many of the palaces around Piazza Castello are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Residences of the Royal House of Savoy". If you also want to see them from the inside, combine a tour with the Torino + Piemonte Card or the Royal Pass.

Magic Turin: a legend

Turin is known as a city of magic. According to legend, it sits on two magic triangles at once: with Prague and Lyon it forms the triangle of white magic, and with London and San Francisco the triangle of black magic.

The legend is also mapped onto the city itself: the "black heart" is said to beat in the west on Piazza Statuto, the "white soul" in the east on Piazza Castello. Add to that places such as the Church of Gran Madre di Dio, the Mole Antonelliana and the cathedral with the Shroud, all surrounded by stories.

None of it can be proven – but after a themed tour you'll see the city through different eyes.

Background: the tunnels of the 1706 siege

In 1706 Turin was besieged by French troops. A system of countermine galleries dates from this period. At the Museo Civico Pietro Micca you can see around 400 metres of them; the galleries run 6 to 14 metres below today's street level.

The museum is at Via Francesco Guicciardini 7/A and is named after Pietro Micca, a miner who lost his life defending the city.
