The good news first: the four most visited venues in the centre are open on Mondays. The Egyptian Museum opens from 9:00 to 14:00, the Musei Reali with the Royal Palace from 9:00 to 19:00, the National Cinema Museum in the Mole Antonelliana also from 9:00 to 19:00, and Palazzo Madama from 10:00 to 18:00. Then there are the MAUTO car museum (10:00–14:00), the Basilica di Superga, the Juventus Museum and several smaller museums.
Closed on Mondays are mainly the GAM, the MAO, the Museo del Risorgimento, the Pinacoteca Agnelli and the Museo Lavazza in the city, plus the residences on the outskirts of Turin: La Venaria Reale, the Stupinigi hunting lodge, the Villa della Regina and the Castello di Rivoli.
So Monday is a good day for the centre. Trips to the palaces are better scheduled for Tuesday to Sunday. In Turin you need to watch out more on Tuesdays (Mole and Palazzo Madama closed) and Wednesdays (Musei Reali closed).
Monday opening hours according to the museums' official websites (as of 1 October 2026). At many venues the ticket desk closes an hour before closing time – plan your entry accordingly.

Special cases in October 2026: in the week of 5 to 11 October, the Musei Reali are closed on Tuesday 6 October instead of Wednesday. The Cinema Museum is closed on Wednesday 7 October 2026 while an exhibition is dismantled. The Borgo Medievale in the Parco del Valentino is currently closed entirely for renovation work.
These venues are the most worthwhile on a Monday. The order follows the opening hours: whatever closes early comes first.

On Mondays only until 14:00, last entry at 13:00. So arrive at opening time at 9:00 and allow around two hours.

On Mondays from 10:00 to 14:00. For car fans the morning is enough; on other days it is open until 19:00.

The Royal Palace, Royal Armoury and Galleria Sabauda are open all day on Mondays from 9:00 to 19:00. The closing day is Wednesday.

On Mondays from 10:00 to 18:00; the ticket desk closes at 17:00. The palace on Piazza Castello is closed on Tuesdays.

On Mondays from 9:00 to 19:00. Ideal for the late afternoon – the panoramic lift is only available with a reservation.

Tombs, royal apartment and dome on Mondays 10:00–13:30 and 14:30–18:00. The rack railway runs – its closing day is Wednesday.

On Mondays from 9:30 to 18:30. Different hours apply on match days – check the fixture list first.
Because the Egyptian Museum and MAUTO close as early as 14:00 on Mondays, the order matters. This route through the centre, all on foot, has proved its worth:
You'll find exactly this plan in detail in our Turin in one day itinerary – it works on a Monday without any changes. If you'd rather see cars than mummies, swap the morning: MAUTO from 10:00 to 13:00, then back to the centre. The Pinacoteca Agnelli at Lingotto, however, is closed on Mondays.
In the afternoon, smaller venues that are open every day are also a good option: the Museo della Sindone (15:00–18:00), the Choco-Story chocolate museum near Porta Nuova (10:00–18:00) or the Museo Nazionale della Montagna on Monte dei Cappuccini with its viewing terrace (10:00–18:00, see Borgo Po). The Museo Diocesano beneath the cathedral, with its climb up the bell tower, is open on Mondays of all days, but closed Tuesday to Thursday instead.
The overview for planning from Monday to Sunday. The right-hand column shows what works particularly well on that day.

On Juventus match days, different hours apply at the Juventus Museum, and the Match Day Tour replaces the stadium tour.
With these tricks you won't miss a museum, whatever day you arrive. The matching day plans are in our itineraries for one day, two days and three days.
Start promptly at 9:00 at the Egyptian Museum, because on Mondays it closes at 14:00. After that, the Musei Reali, Palazzo Madama and the Mole are open until the evening. Trips to Venaria or Stupinigi aren't worth it on a Monday – go to Superga instead: the rack railway runs, and the tombs and dome are open. A day trip to the Langhe or Alba also suits a Monday well.
On Tuesdays the Mole with the Cinema Museum and Palazzo Madama are closed. But the Egyptian Museum and the Musei Reali are open, and in the afternoon the Museo del Risorgimento in Palazzo Carignano or the GAM are a good fit. You can then see the Mole from outside in the evening. A good choice for a trip to La Venaria Reale or Stupinigi.
On Wednesdays the Musei Reali are closed, as is the rack railway to Superga (you can get up there on bus 79/). On this day, combine the Egyptian Museum, Palazzo Madama and the Mole, or head to MAUTO near Lingotto. Caffè Al Bicerin is also closed on Wednesdays – for a break, try one of the other historic cafés.
From Thursday to Sunday all the major museums are open. On Saturdays the Egyptian Museum stays open until 20:00. For the Mole's panoramic lift you always need a reservation, and with the Torino Card booking is compulsory at the Egyptian Museum on Saturdays and Sundays. Venaria and Stupinigi have longer opening hours at the weekend (until 18:30), and Stupinigi then also offers guided tours in Italian.
With a ticket or tour bought in advance you save time at the ticket desk on a Monday – especially important at the Egyptian Museum, where you only have the morning on Mondays. The booking calendar of each offer shows whether a slot is available on your Monday.

Two hours with a guide, admission included. Offered in English, Italian, German, French and Spanish. On Mondays it's best to choose a morning slot – the museum closes at 14:00.

On public holidays many museums have their own opening hours – regardless of the day of the week. The most important rules:
Public holidays in Italy include 1 and 6 January, Easter Monday, 25 April, 1 May, 2 June, 15 August, 1 November, 8 December and 25 and 26 December. In Turin there is also the feast of the city's patron saint, San Giovanni, on 24 June. Always check the museum's website before visiting on a public holiday. You can read more about Advent on our Christmas in Turin page.
The Torino + Piemonte Card is a good fit for a Monday: all the major venues open on Mondays are free with the card – the Egyptian Museum, Musei Reali, National Cinema Museum, Palazzo Madama, MAUTO, Superga and the Juventus Museum, plus smaller ones such as Choco-Story, the Museo della Sindone and the Museo della Montagna. Note: the 24-hour card allows a maximum of three free visits, and each attraction only counts once.
At some venues you need to book in advance with the card:
All the booking links are on Turismo Torino's booking page; a booking fee may apply.
The Royal Pass is less worthwhile on a Monday: the Musei Reali, Palazzo Madama and Superga are free, but the Egyptian Museum and the National Cinema Museum are only discounted – and the residences outside the city, such as Venaria, Stupinigi and Rivoli, are closed on Mondays. Our Torino Card vs Royal Pass comparison shows which card suits your travel plans.
You'll find admission prices, highlights and directions for all the city's major museums on our museums page – from the Egyptian Museum to the GAM.

Open on Mondays are, among others, the Egyptian Museum (9:00–14:00), the Musei Reali (9:00–19:00), the National Cinema Museum in the Mole (9:00–19:00), Palazzo Madama (10:00–18:00), MAUTO (10:00–14:00), the Basilica di Superga, the Juventus Museum, Choco-Story, the Museo della Sindone, the Museo Diocesano and the Museo Nazionale della Montagna.
Yes, on Mondays from 9:00 to 14:00. Last entry is an hour before closing, so at 13:00. On other days it is open longer, on Saturdays until 20:00. The museum has no closing day.
Closed on Mondays are the GAM, the MAO, the Museo del Risorgimento, the Pinacoteca Agnelli, the Museo Lavazza, the Villa della Regina, the Castello di Rivoli, as well as La Venaria Reale (except on public holidays) and the Stupinigi hunting lodge.
The Musei Reali with the Royal Palace are closed on Wednesdays and otherwise open daily from 9:00 to 19:00. Exception: in the week of 5 to 11 October 2026, Tuesday 6 October is the closing day instead of Wednesday. Older sources still give Monday as the closing day – that is out of date.
The National Cinema Museum in the Mole and the panoramic lift are closed on Tuesdays and open from 9:00 to 19:00 on the other days. On 7 October 2026 the museum is also closed while an exhibition is dismantled.
No, La Venaria Reale is closed on Mondays – except on public holidays that fall on a Monday, such as Easter Monday. Plan your trip for Tuesday to Sunday.
Tuesday and Wednesday rather than Monday: on Tuesdays the Mole and Palazzo Madama are closed, on Wednesdays the Musei Reali and the rack railway to Superga. With the right order, though, you'll manage well on any day – the tips for each weekday are above.
Yes, because all the major museums open on Mondays are free with the card. The 24-hour card, however, allows a maximum of three free visits, for example the Egyptian Museum, Musei Reali and National Cinema Museum. The 24-hour card currently costs €29.90 at Tiqets.
For the Egyptian Museum at weekends and on public holidays, yes; on weekdays it is strongly recommended. At the National Cinema Museum a reservation is strongly recommended, and the panoramic lift is only available with a reservation. It is also compulsory for Castello della Mandria, Castello di Moncalieri, Palazzo Carignano and the Villa della Regina on Sundays and public holidays.
Usually yes, but with special hours. On 25 December many venues are closed, and on 24 and 31 December many close earlier. If a public holiday falls on a closing day, some museums open anyway, such as La Venaria Reale on Easter Monday. Check the museum's website beforehand.
